Pretty ordinary #007: Belated Happy Easter edition
As anyone living in the southeast can attest, spring has not sprung this year. But you can tell that as soon as Mother Nature gives us a string of 70-degree days, the world is going to turn the color of Kermit the Frog and Claritin will be in short supply. I try not to wish away the crisp mornings and evenings, knowing that it’ll be ugly hot before too long. Despite the cool weather, a few hardy flowers are making their presence known around the Ordinary House with colorful displays of petals and pistils. It won’t be long now.

Beautiful flowers! I am thoroughly enjoying your blog about the house. My husband and I are good friends with the Troxell’s, Marvin Teer, and Karen (Murphy) Ireland, her husband, and her sister, Zackie. Karen and Zackie, daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Murphy, grew up in the house that is now yours.

It makes my heart sing, to see flowers growing again in those beds that Kitty Murphy spent so much time tending to with Thelma; (our housekeeper/second mama, who just turned 100 last week.) Yesterday, after Easter service at St. Matt’s, was so happy to point out the newly painted sturcture to a friend, and say; “Behold, my old house is becoming a home again!”

There are all sorts of treasures buried out there. I’m certain that plenty of them were put there by your mother. This year’s gardening approach will be mainly wait and see. Next year, we’ll start adding our own touches.
So Louis has not beheaded every flower in the yard?!
He’s working on it. He’s been busy tracking down desiccated squirrel carcasses, dead snakes, deer poo, cat poo, rocks and rotten walnuts. The world is his buffet.
